Self Management YHLB 12-week healthy lower back course through YOGA.


Cost: £8 per session

Time: Tuesday 6.15 - 7.30 pm

This course is aimed at people who genuinely want to commence yoga but may be worried about how to begin safely and gently. May have other symptoms and conditions e.g. depression, anxiety, headaches knee/hip/neck pain, high/low blood pressure. Specifically aimed at people who are generally less flexible or have ME, MS, CFS fibromyalgia, joint or mobility problems. It is a gentle course adapted to each learners need led by a experienced and well qualified tutor. Supportive equipment such as wall ropes, yoga chairs and specialist equipment are made available if required. Students learn various techniques to quiet an active mind and restore a good sleep pattern ie., meditation, breathing, postures, relaxation.

Janaki Mahadevan’s main aim is to give interested students the basic tools to work with and progress further in this rich and ancient Indo-European language.

Starting with the reading and writing of the alphabet and understanding the importance of pronunciation, she will lead students into gradually understanding the grammatical system.

“An introduction to Sanskrit” will be a 5-week course held at the Yoga Sanctuary starting Friday the 6th October 2017 from 1.00 to 2.30 pm (90 mins)

Yoga for Pregnancy

We have now opened a new schedule that is tailored for the physiological and emotional processes that are unique to pregnancy.

These sessions are designed specifically by an experienced yoga tutor who has been successfully running Pregnancy sessions at the Yoga Sanctuary and are proving to be very popular. These sessions are on going every Saturday from 10.00 am till 11.30 am. Please get in touch with us if you are interested in these sessions.

The classes involve gentle movement, breathing practices & relaxation/ meditation to accommodate the changes and demands of the pregnant body.

The techniques that are practiced in these sessions are proven to balance the emotions, calm the mind and even help to build a bridge of contact with the baby.

Specialist Back Care For Healthy Lower Backs

6.15 - 7.30 pm (75 minutes).

A large UK RCT research trial has proven this specialist yoga programme to be of benefit for chronic low backpain. Evidence based classes. Participants learn pain-relieving postures and poses for healing and improvement of back health. Re-education and re-alignment of the body plus raised self-awareness are aims. Examples include standing, sitting, kneeling and lying down with stable comfort.
